FLAG & NATIONAL ANTHEM : ARE INDIANS OVERSENSITIVE ?
Recently, Sachin Tendulkar faced criticism on cutting a tricolour cake. A model wearing a dress of national flag. From using a tricolour doormat or national flag as a sofa cover, cusion cover or even curtains. Does all these things demonstrate our disrespect towards nation or national flag? US government has given freedom to its people, to burn their national flag for showing their disregardness. Then are Indians oversensitive regarding Flag & National Anthem?
Patriotism should not be synonymous to hyper- nationalism. I beleive, moving around with a tricolour dress or cutting a tricolour cake has nothing to do with respecting national flag & national anthem? It does not show any sort of disrespectness towards our flag, instead it demonstrate our enthusiasm and love towards are country. Taking such methods of demonstrating love towards the nation, as disrespectness towards nation is something unjustified, when eating tricolour sweetsor wearing a tricolour turban on head do not make any difference, then why panting face tricolour or a tricolour tattoo on back displays disrespectness?
Instead of tar getting people on such lucrative issues, one should also see the other side of coin, The intensions behind wearing a flag dress, or panting your hair tricolour are not all disrespecting national flag. Instead inorder to show their love towards nation, often people (esp. youth) try to adopt various innovative and extra ordinary methods to put their feelings into mortal form. Moreover, it does happens most of the time media makes such issues oversensitive. we are so much concerned about our nation & flag only in such nuisance things, every year after independence day celebration thousands of flagsticks are seen lying on the streets, stumped on by people,we find so difficult to even stand up at our national anthem. Where does our respect for our nation goes at that time? instead of getting hyper on such bauble issues one should also ponder over such things first.
There is no sense in making such things an issue, one should see the intention behind wearing a tricolour dress,or cutting a tricolour cake. Our love for our country dosent gets weaken by such things, and after all its about freedom of speech n expression "INDIA IS A FREE COUNTRY N EVERYBODY HAS RIGHT TO EXPRESS HIS/HER LOVE IN HIS/HER WAY"
